Grays win first MABL championship in franchise history

Congratulations to the Grays on winning their first MABL championship in franchise history, beating the White Sox three games to two in the best-of-five Championship Series.

MABL Finals Game 5 recap:

With one out and a man on second (TJ Gardner) in the top of the 1st, the White Sox looked to strike early, as Omar Ortiz hit what appeared to be an RBI-single up the middle, until CF Steve Baldassari fired a seed to his catcher Tad Beagley who tagged out Gardner at home and then proceeded to gun down Ortiz trying to steal second on the throw home, for the inning-ending, tone-setting, double play.

Feeding off the early momentum roused by the defense, the Grays plated a run in the bottom of the 1st, but saw the Sox answer back with two runs of their own in the top of the 2nd.

Down 2-1, the Grays responded in mighty fashion, scoring six runs in the bottom of the 2nd to take a 7-2 lead. The Grays added three more insurance runs in the bottom of the 3rd, one in the 4th, and another one in the 5th en route to a 12-6 victory and the team's first MABL championship.

Congratulations to the Grays on winning the 2012 MABL 18+ Division title, and hats off to Matty O and the White Sox on a fine season.
