Experience once again bested youth in both games of the 2022 BMBL All-Star doubleheader held at Brandeis University in Waltham this past Saturday.

In the first of two contests, the Masters All-Stars defeated the Metrowest All-Stars in walk-off fashion by a final score of 8-7.

George Ziegler of the Los Gigantes picked up the win in relief for the Masters Division, pitching the last four innings, giving up two earned runs while striking out six.

Down 7-3 in the 7th, the Masters All-Stars plated two runs in the inning to cut the lead in half, after O'Brien walked and later scored on a single from Joel Torres of the Los Gigantes.

The Boston Dodgers' Henry Nunez followed with an RBI triple that one-hopped the wall in center, allowing Torres to score the Masters' fifth run of the game.

The Masters Division put up another 2-spot in the 8th, taking advantage of a botched double play attempt that allowed Mike Barthel and Tony Anderlionis of the Avi Nelson Rockies to score and tie the game at 7-7.

In the 9th, Dan Braz of the Avi Nelson Rockies led off the inning with a base hit and quickly put himself into scoring position with a successful steal of second. Two batters later, Braz advanced to third, taking advantage of an errant throw by the shortstop on a ground ball by The Bulls' Tim Hart.

This set the stage for John O'Brien of the Milton Breakers, who drove in Braz on a sacrifice fly to left, capping off an 8-7 comeback victory for the Masters All-Stars.

The Anthony Rizzo of the Northborough Cardinals was the hard-luck losing pitcher for the Metrowest All-Stars, tossing the final 1.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits.

Chris Buckley of the Marlborough Red Sox got the starting nod for the MetroWest stars, pitching seven innings, giving up four earned runs on ten hits while striking out three.

The MetroWest squad jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the 1st on a home run from Adam Ferrucci of the Metrowest Orioles. Chris Perry of the Metrowest Royals added a run in the 2nd and the Northborough Cardinals' Anthony Rizzo drove in two to give the MetroWest an early 5-0 cushion.

Down 5-2 in the 6th, Mike Maguire of The Bulls doubled and drove in Barthel to cut the lead down to two. The MetroWest side answered right back in the 7th, as Chris LeBlanc of the Metrowest Astros drove in two runs to give his team a 7-3 lead before the Masters pulled off the valiant comeback.
