After a long New England winter, Opening Day 2013 for the Boston Men’s Baseball League (BMBL) has finally arrived! The first action kicked off on April 20 in the 30+ MSBL National League, with Boston shutting out Waltham by a score of 5-0...JM Force – 2012 league champions and undefeated in the 30+ MSBL American League – defeated the 2012 league champions from 30+ National League by a score of 13-3 in the franchise’s first National League game. Josue Feliciano went 5-5 at the plate to help lead JM Force to their first win...the American League's Boston Cardinals shutout the Hyde Park Rangers by a score of 16-0 behind 23 hits and solid pitching, while the South Shore Giants (formerly Weymouth Grays) also shutout their opponents by a score of 7-0...the 40+ Masters Division got underway on April 22, highlighted by an opening night win by the Metro Red Sox – the 2012 league champs – over the Billerica Monarchs, 6-2...the 18+ MABL kicks off on April 26 with the Tigers facing the Dodgers, a new franchise that previously competed in the Royal Rooters league. With 42 teams across 3 age divisions, 2013 is shaping up to be a fantastic season of baseball in Boston...good luck to all teams!

We were deeply saddened by the tragic events at the Boston Marathon and in the days that followed. The Boston Men’s Baseball League has called Boston home since 1988, with scores of players from all over the Boston-area taking the field each Summer for their respective team. Patriots Day in Boston is a holiday that we celebrate by rooting on all of the Boston Marathon runners who push themselves to the finish line on Boylston Street. We don't only cheer because the 26.2 mile course reveals the very best in athletic achievement and personal character but also because it reminds us that Winter is over and baseball season has arrived. Our hearts go out to all of the victims and their families. We will honor the victims at next year's Boston Marathon by cheering louder and harder than ever before. This is our city, and we're Boston Strong.
